Locked Account

Body

What Is It?

Montana Tech user accounts can become locked after five failed login attempts.

Solution

When changing your mtech.edu password, ensure you also update the password on all devices where your account is used.

This includes:

  • Email on your mobile device
  • Eduroam/Guest Wi-Fi on your mobile device or laptop
  • Saved browser passwords (MyMTech, Canvas, etc.)
  • The Xbox in your dorm room
  • Other necessary devices

Please note that the IT Department/Help Desk cannot identify non-mtech.edu devices using your credentials, nor can they prevent lockouts. It is the user’s responsibility to maintain and secure their mtech.edu credentials on any device they log into.
