What is it?
This guide outlines how to create and manage Classic Quizzes in Canvas. It includes instructions for navigating the Quizzes tab, setting up questions, choosing quiz options, and publishing quizzes. Additionally, it provides an overview of the features available for customization, such as time limits, multiple attempts, and question display settings, along with a comparison of Classic and New Quizzes. How to Create Classic Quizzes
Step 1:
Navigate to the desired course and select Quizzes.

Step 2:
Click the "+ Quiz" button.

Step 3:
Click "Classic Quizzes" and then click "Submit"

Step 4:
Name your quiz and create a description.

Step 5:
Select your quiz options. For more information see Quiz Options.

Step 6:
In the top select questions. Then name your question, select the question type, point value and then scroll down to create your question.

Note: These are all the available question types.

Step 7:
Once your question is created click "Update Question".

Step 8:
Once you are done click "Save & Publish" or "Save"

Quiz Options

Quiz Type:
Assignment Group:
Options:
- Shuffle Answers
- this determines if the answers will be in a random order or the order you created them in.
- Time Limit
- This allows you to set a time limit that will stop the quiz when time runs out.
- Allow Multiple Attempts
- This allows you to let students take the quiz more than once.
- Let Students See Their Quiz Responses
- This makes it so students can see what questions they got incorrect as well as allowing them to see the correct answer directly after or during a time frame after the quiz.
- Show One Question at a Time
- This makes it so students can only see one question at a time. You can also lock the questions after answering so students can't go back.
Quiz Restrictions:
- Require an Access Code
- This allows you to set a password for the quiz.
- Filter IP Addresses
- Quiz IP filters are a way to limit access to quizzes to computers in a specified IP range.
