Introduction and Purpose:
To ensure accuracy and integrity in all representations about the university’s mission, programs, and services.
University Policy:
The Office of Public Relations is the central office for approval of any marketing and promotional materials relating to the mission, programs and services of Montana Technological University.
Various departments across campus will collaborate with the Office of Public Relations to represent the University clearly, accurately, and consistently.
Data and rankings will be dated and cited.
- Statistical data will be verified by an office with the appropriate oversight which may include, but is not limited to, the Institutional Research Office, Budget & Finance, Financial Aid, Career Services, Human Resources, and Sponsored Programs.
- Procedures for regularly reviewing materials are developed and managed by the Office of Public Relations, the Admissions Office, and the Graduate School.

Procedures:
- All departments and programs are responsible for maintaining accurate information on their webpages and marketing materials. Departments and programs must seek approval from the Office of Public Relations prior to publication to ensure accuracy, consistency, and data integrity.
- Leadership within Undergraduate Admissions and the Graduate School will review and update promotional materials annually by conferring with campus representatives who have responsibility for programs and services discussed in the materials. Data will be provided by appropriate departments and approved by the Office of Public Relations.
- Career Services will be the source of job placement and outcome information.
- The Dean of Students will facilitate annual review and updates to the Montana Tech Student Handbook by conferring with campus representatives who have responsibility for programs and services outlined in the document. College or department handbooks will be managed by the specific area’s Dean or Department Head and may not be inconsistent with the Student Handbook.
- The Registrar will facilitate annual review and updates to the Montana Tech Student Handbook by conferring with campus representatives who have responsibility for programs and services outlined in the document.
- All curricular changes are approved by the Curriculum Review Committee and Faculty Senate before edits are made to the catalog.
- Other campus approved changes go through the Office of the Commissioner of Higher Education and Montana University System Board of Regents approval process before implementation.
- Academic policy changes are presented and approved by the Deans' Council and, if approved, forwarded to Faculty Senate for informational purposes.
- Upon publication, academic departments are directed to review any curriclum changes to ensure accuracy and alignment with documentation approved by the Curriculum Review Committee, Faculty Senate, and when appropriate, the Office of the Commissioner of Higher Education.
Anyone wishing to report inaccurate information found on the University’s website or published materials may do so on Montana Tech’s brand webpage located here: www.mtech.edu/montana-true/tools/index.html. The information will be routed to the responsible office for follow-up or correction. Further concerns should be elevated to the supervisor through the applicable chain of command.
