Importing Course Content from a Previous Course

Step 1: Open the Destination Course

Navigate to the Canvas course where you want to copy the content to.

Step 2: Open the Import Tool

Select the Import Existing Content button in the course menu.

Step 3: Choose Content Type

In the Content Type dropdown, choose Copy a Canvas Course.

Step 4: Select the Source Course

Select the course you want to copy content from. Adjust additional settings if needed, such as limiting content or shifting dates. Then select Add to Import Queue.

*Note: If you want to import only specific content, continue to Step 5. Please select any content you have edited or built into the prior course. DO NOT select template pages that you have not modified, as they will be updated in the new shell. *

Step 5: Import Specific Content (Optional)

Part 1: Choose Content

On the Import Content page, select Select Content.

Part 2: Select Items to Import

Choose the content you want to import and then select Select Content to proceed.

We recommend ensuring that you bring the course Syllabus as well.
