Setup WiFi on an Android Device

Accessing Montana Tech's wireless network using your Android.

  1. Select Settings. Refer to Figure 1-1

  2. Select Wireless networks. Refer to Figure 1-2

  3. Select Wifi Settings. Refer to Figure 1-3

  4. Select eduRoam or MTDorms. Refer to Figure 1-4

  5. Select the EAP type: PEAP. Refer to Figure 1-5

  6. Select Phase 2 Authentication: MSCHAPv2. Refer to Figure 1-6

  7. Select CA certificate: Use system certificates (Android version 8.0 or higher) Refer to Figure 1-7

  8. Select Online Certificate Status: Do not validate

  9. Domain enter: mtech.edu Refer to Figure 1-8

  10. For identity

    1. On eduRoam enter in your Montana Tech email address (username@mtech.edu), Refer to Figure 1-9-1

    2. On MTDorms enter only your Montana Tech username. Refer to Figure 1-9-2

  11. Anonymous Identity should be left blank.

  12. Finally, for the Wireless Password type your Montana Tech password.

Setup WiFi on an iPhone

Accessing Montana Tech's wireless network using your iPhone.

  1. Select Settings. Refer to Figure 2-1

  2. Select Wi-Fi. Refer to Figure 2-2

  3. Select eduRoam or MTDorms. Refer to Figure 2-3

    1. On eduRoam enter in your Montana Tech email address (username@mtech.edu) and password. Refer to Figure 2-4

    2. On MTDorm only enter in your Montana Tech username and password

  4. Choose Trust on the Certificate page. Refer to Figure 2-5

Setup WiFi on a Mac

Accessing Montana Techs wireless network using your Mac,

Wireless OSX 10.9+ (Mac)

You should see the wireless signal indicator on the menu bar at the top right of the screen.  It looks like a series of curved lines. Refer to Figure 3-2-1

If it isn't there, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Apple menu and select System Preferences. Refer to Figure 3-1-1

  2. Click on the Network icon. Refer to Figure 3-1-2

  3. Click on Wi-Fi. Refer to Figure 3-1-3

  4. Check the box “Show Wi-Fi status in menu bar" Refer to Figure 3-1-4

Connecting to eduroam / MTDorms :

  1. Click on the Wi-Fi icon in the status menu. Refer to Figure 3-2-1

  2. Click on eduroam or MTDorms, when prompted type in your Montana Tech username and password, click Join. Refer to Figure 3-2-2

  3. Verify Certificate, click Continue. Refer to Figure 3-2-3

  4. If prompted, type in your Mac Admin username and password (specific to your machine), and click Update Settings. Refer to Figure 3-2-4

Setup WiFi on Google Chromebooks

Accessing Montana Techs wireless network using your Chromebook.

  1. First, go to the bottom right corner of the screen, open it, and click on the Settings option. Refer to Figure 4-1
  2. Go to Network and find EduRoam from the list. Refer to Figure 4-2
  3. Click Configure and change the settings so it matches Figure 4-3. (If you cannot find Configure, try disconnecting the network and trying again)
  4. Select PEAP for the EAP method
  5. If you see EAP Phase 2 authentication, make sure it is set as MSCHAPv2.
  6. Set Server CA certificate to Default.
  7. Put your full email under Identity and enter your password. You can leave the other three fields blank.
  8. If you are connecting to MTDorms, follow the same steps but just put your user name instead of your email. (Your user name is your email without @mtech.edu at the end.)
