Signing into Moodle
Step 1:
In your web browser, navigate to your Moodle using the following link:
https://moodlemtech.mrooms3.net/
Step 2:
Enter your username and password and then select "SIGN IN."
- Note: Links to help with passwords are on the Web Sign-on page. Those who cannot log into Moodle should contact the IT Help Center.
Step 3:
On the homepage you will find a list of all your courses. Select the course relevant to the step-by-step guide you are following.

Export Gradebook to Excel
Step 1:
On your web browser, navigate to your Moodle homepage using the following link:
https://moodlemtech.mrooms3.net/
Note: If you are having any issues accessing Moodle please navigate to the Login section.
Step 2:
All of your courses are listed on the homepage. Select the one in which you will be exporting in.
Step 3:
Select "Grades."
Step 4:
Select the drop-down menu located on "Grader Report." Then select "Export" as outlined in the figures below.
Step 5:
Select the drop-down menu located on "Export as Opendocument spreadsheet."
Step 6:
Select "Excel spreadsheet" located on the drop-down menu.
Step 7:
Modify and select what you are going to export.
Step 8:
Select "Download."
Step 9:
Select the file from the downloads section in your browser.
Step 10:
When the file opens a warning will pop up. Do not worry as it is safe to select "Enable Editing."
Step 11:
You can now view your gradebook in Excel.

Import Gradebook from Excel
Step 1:
Open your gradebook in Excel
Step 2:
Select "File" located in the top left corner.
Step 3:
Select "Save As"
Step 4:
Select "Browse" located under "Other locations."
Step 5:
Give the gradebook file a name, then save as type "CSV UTF-8 (Comma delimited.)"
Step 6:
On your web browser, navigate to your Moodle homepage using the following link:

Step 7:
All of your courses are listed on the homepage. Select the one in which you will be importing in.
Step 8:
Select "Grades."
Step 9:
Select the drop-down menu located on "Grader Report." Then select "Import" as outlined in the figures below.
Step 10:
Select "Choose a file..."
Step 11:
Select "Choose File" in the "Upload a file" tab.
Step 12:
Locate your saved CSV file and select "Open."
Step 13:
Select "Upload this file."
Step 14:
Select "Upload grades."
Step 15:
Identify and map users with the unique identifiers used in the excel spreadsheet.
- To match users by Student ID, set both the Map from and Map to drop-down menus to ID number.
- To match users by email address, set both the Map from and Map to drop-down menus to Email address.
Step 16:
Map grade items from columns in the excel spreadsheet to grade items in Moodle. The column headings from excel will be listed to the left while the existing grade items in Moodle are located in a drop-down menu to the right. After you finish mapping, select "Upload grades."
Step 17:
Select "Continue" to view your imported grades."

Export Graded Column
Step 1:
On your web browser, navigate to your Moodle homepage using the following link:

Step 2:
All of your courses are listed on the homepage. Select the one in which you will be exporting in.
Step 3:
Select "Grades."
Step 4:
Select the drop-down menu located on "Grader Report." Then select "Export" as outlined in the figures below.
Step 5:
Select the drop-down menu located on "Opendocument spreadsheet."
Step 6:
From the drop-down menu select "Excel spreadsheet."
Step 7:
Select the "Select all/none" option to disselect all the boxes.
Step 8:
Select the item you would like to export.
Step 9:
Select "Download."
Step 10:
It is safe to select enable editing in Excel. You can now view and edit your column in excel.

Importing to Banner
Step 1:
If you are using your own Excel file, please make sure you have these required fields filled for every record:
- Term Code
- CRN
- Student ID
- Final Grade (Letter)
Term Codes consist of the four digit year and two digit semester code, Fall - 70, Spring - 30, and Summer - 50.
For example:
2023 Fall -> 202370
2023 Spring -> 202330
2023 Summer -> 202350
If you have completed the above for excel please navigate to the "Now we're ready to import" section.
If you are exporting you grades from Moodle, please make sure to view the following steps.
Step 2:
On your web browser, navigate to your Moodle homepage using the following link:

Step 3:
All of your courses are listed on the homepage. Select the one in which you will be exporting in.
Step 4:
Select "Grades."
Step 5:
Select the drop-down menu located on "Grader Report." Then select "Export" as outlined in the figures below.
Step 6:
Select the drop-down menu located on "Opendocument spreadsheet."
Step 7:
From the drop-down menu select "Excel spreadsheet."
Step 8:
Disselect all the boxes by clicking on "Select all/none."
Step 9:
Select "Course Total."
Step 10:
Under "Export format options" select "Letter" and disselect "Real." Then select "Download."
Step 11:
Once downloaded, your grades will show up in the downloads tab in your browser. Click on the download.
Step 12:
Once Excel opens, select "Enable Editing." Disregard the warning message as it is safe to edit.
Step 13:
Now, you'll need to prepare the file for Banner(OrediggerWeb). Refer to the figure below if you need an example.
- Change the "Institution" header to "TermCode"
- Change the "Department" header to "CRN"
- Fill in the first cell under TermCode and copy the value into all the following cells.
- Fill in the first cell under CRN with the course's CRN and copy the value into all the following cells.
- Add another column with the header "Last Attended Date"
- Right click the "Email Address" header and then click "Insert". This will add a column to the left of "Email Address".
- Type "Last Attended Date" as the header for this column.
- If a student has an F in the course, you are required to fill in this field with the last date they attended. Use mm/dd/YYYY format (ex. Jan 3rd 2018 -> 01/03/2018). If you do not fill in this field, the F will not be imported.
- Save the file as a new file on the desktop.
- Keep all other fields the same.
- Now, you are ready to import.
Now We're Ready to Import
Step 14:
From Banner, open the Faculty Grade Entry App. Click on either "Midterm Grades" or "Final Grades" and then select the course you'll be uploading grades to.
Step 15:
Next, you will want to sort your classes so the most recent term appears first. To sort the term from the newest to the oldest, you need to click on the "Term" column twice. (the first click is to select the column and the second click is to change the sort order)
Step 16:
Click the gear in the upper right corner of the screen and select "Import" from the list.
Step 17:
Click on the word "Browse" and select the Excel file with your grades, then click "Upload". Once the file is uploaded, click "Continue"
Step 18:
Banner(OrediggerWeb) will now let you preview the spread sheet so you know you selected the current file. Make sure "My Spreadsheet has headers" is checked. Once you are sure you picked the right file, click "Continue".
Step 19:
Now Banner(OrediggerWeb) will have you map the values of the spreadsheet to the values Banner(OrediggerWeb) is looking for. The four important matches are: ID number -> Student ID, CRN -> CRN, TermCode -> Term Code*, Course total (Letter) -> Final Grade
Step 21:
Banner(OrediggerWeb) will now preview what the values will look like in Banner. Click on "Download the validation report" to view any errors. This will open text file with a list of the grades that will not be imported. You can attempt to fix any issues using this report and attempting to import again. Click "Continue" once everything looks correct.
Step 22:
Banner(OrediggerWeb) will now give you a completion verification and let you know how many records successfully imported. This is your last chance to download the verification report to see which records need to be fixed, and fix the records. Once you are done, click "Finish".
