What is it?
This guide provides step-by-step instructions on creating and managing assignments in Canvas. It covers two primary methods: using the "Assignments" tab and creating assignments through "Modules." Additionally, it explains various assignment options, such as grading preferences, submission types, group assignments, peer reviews, and anonymous grading. How to Create an Assignment
Step 1:
In the desired course navigate to the "Assignments" tab.
Step 2:
Click "+ Assignment"
Step 3:
Name your assignment and create an assignment description.
Step 4:
Go through the creation settings for the assignment. For more information see Assignment Options,
Step 5:
Click "Save" or "Save & Publish"

Creating an Assignment through Modules
Step 1:
In the desired course navigate to the Modules tab.
Step 2:
Navigate to the desired module and click "+
Step 3:
In the add section make sure assignment is selected.
Step 4:
Click Create an Assignment, and Input assignment name. Then click "Add Item"
Step 5:
Click open the assignment and click edit to edit the assignment options/settings.

Assignment Options
Points:
- The total points of the assignment
Assignment Group:
- The group the assignment will be placed in. These can be seen in the assignment tab.
Display Grade as:
- This is where you select where you want the grade to be shown as points, percent, letter grade et...
Submission Type:
- This is where you choose whether your assignment will be turned in online, in-person, etc...
Group Assignment:
- This is where you will select if you want your assignment to be done in groups.
- After selecting "This is a Group Assignment" it will give you the options to create these groups.
Peer Reviews:
- Peer Reviews allow you to require students to review.
- You can manually assign reviewers or automatically assign reviewers.
Anonymous Grading:
- Anonymous Grading makes it so that graders cannot see the students names.
Assign Access:
- Assign Access allows you to add a due date, availability dates, as well as choosing if you want to assign it to everyone or specific people.
